About

I am currently Associate Professor at the Jindal School of International Affairs. I have just completed a two-year Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship, under Horizon 2020, hosted at LUISS University, Rome (Italy). Project no. 101024492 — ‘Stay home’: Emergency, (Im)mobility, and the Liberal Subject (MOBILISE), from 01/07/2021 to 30/06/2023. Total grant: € 171.473,28. Short bio: I hold a Laurea [BSc and MA equiv.] in Political Science from the University of Sassari (Italy), an MA and a PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent (UK), and fourteen years of teaching experience in International Studies/Political Science in both UK and US systems of higher education, in countries as diverse as Italy, China, Azerbaijan and India. My research expertise cuts across the fields of International Relations Theory, Migration Studies, Citizenship Studies and Resistance Studies. My (sole-authored) publications have appeared in leading international journals such as the Journal of Refugee Studies, Political Studies, Citizenship Studies, Third World Quarterly, Global Society, Journal of Borderlands Studies, Politics, Societies, Thesis Eleven and a monograph, Rethinking International Protection, was published by Palgrave in 2016. My research interests are the followings: - COVID-19 (im)mobility, creativity and the everyday - Governmentality, liberal subject and (im)mobility - Governmentality and border-crossers; - International mobility, agency and political activism; - Borders, governmentality and ethics; - Citizenship, Migration and Border Studies; - Agamben, Foucault, Rancière, Sartre, Kierkegaard, Levinas, Derrida.
