Abstract

The papers in this panel investigate various aspects of party strategies during electoral campaigns. They consider how parties perceive the preferences of their electorate, and how they respond to changes in these preferences, by updating a party’s ideological position, by changing the salience or clarity of their issue positions, or by engaging in negative campaigning.
