Abstract

In conjunction with the mediatization of politics, this has increased the capacity of political leaders to bypass their party machines and to appeal directly to voters. In addition, a variety of narrative frames are used by different international and domestic actors to discuss or promote European identity in the public sphere of several Southern European countries. How are the new modes and tools of communicating with citizens (social media) affecting these trends?
