Abstract

This panel explores the roles of actors and institutions in different socio-environmental and socio-economic conflicts in the Southern Cone. The panel examines (1) the causes of social movements against extractivism in Chile; (2) the mobilisation of thousands of marginalised domestic workers and the development of their own trade unions in Brazil; (3) the policymaking of wage policies in Uruguay and Chile.
