Abstract

This panel brings together papers that explore artistic and embodied sites of transitional justice. Through case study research in Morocco, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Turkey these papers investigate the use of new and artistic mediums as platforms for people to narrate, process and navigate experiences of violence. Together these papers contribute to expanding the gaze of transitional justice beyond its formal mechanisms towards recognizing the transitional justice properties and potential within artistic spaces including cinema, theatre, dance, and drama podcasts.
