Even before the crisis, the ECPR had aimed to develop a quality Virtual Methods School. Instead of simply streaming our existing offering, we accelerated these plans to develop online courses which take full advantage of the digital format to deliver high-quality PhD-level methods training.

With help and support of our fantastic Academic Convenorslocal hosts at CEU Budapestand all our Instructors and TAs, this much-anticipated project came to life on 27 July 2020. Read our round-up report to discover key highlights and see what our participants have to say about their experience.

1st Virtual Methods School highlights:

  • Three-weeks of exciting exchanges, valuable learnings and inspiring moments
  • 26 cutting-edge courses
  • 5 course types: tech tools, big data, case based, qualitative and interpretive and statistics
  • 493 participants

Using short, pre-recorded lectures, annotated readings, exercises, and online social spaces, along with live interaction between participants and our team of expert Instructors, the first edition of the Virtual Methods School delivered a top-notch programme that established an exceptional digital learning environment.

As our face-to-face Methods School, this year's event also presented outstanding lunchtime debates on some of the hottest topics for social sciences researchers. Watch our YouTube playlist below to get up-to-speed and discover what to expect from these informative sessions.
