Comparative Political Institutions

About

The ECPR Comparative Political Institutions Standing Group brings together hundreds of researchers interested in how political institutions affect public policy, performance, and the behaviour and attitude of citizens and elites, and how these actors shape political institutions in return. It is covering a diversity of approaches and fields such as comparative politics, political behaviour, and political economy, and a diversity of methods such as observational data analysis, formal modeling, and experiments. We believe that fostering dialogue and collaboration across different perspectives and methodological approaches can help address key problems in the study of political institutions and democratic politics more broadly.

Activities

We seek to promote the study of political institutions and to support researchers of the Standing Group by:

1.  Sponsoring sections and workshops at ECPR events (proposals are welcome)

2. Maintaining a mailing-list to circulate relevant calls for papers and job announcement to the members

3. Organising a biennial event in which we invite a handful of prominent and promising scholars from Europe and beyond to present the most exciting research papers on the topic of political institutions. The European Political Institution Conference (EPIC !) would be open to all members and would be an excellent occasion to engage in networking, and to catch up with the latest developments in the field.
