Wednesday 16:00 - 17:30 BST (19/05/2021)

Abstract

This session will explore the theoretical underpinning contributing to a better understanding of the social, economic and political mechanisms enabling corruption and of the structure and functioning of collusions. Speakers will reflect on and discuss: existing actors’ trajectories, structures and arrangements enabling collusions and preventing transparent governance in a given society or regime; the role of OC-politics collusions in the fragmentation of state presence and authority, the forms of government resulting from these collusions and their effect on existing authority patterns; the impact of such governance structure on a given society and more specifically on its vulnerable populations.
