Abstract

This panel analyzes the role of the European Union (EU) as a collective entity in the framework of international institutions such as the United Nations. Zooming in on the role of the EU in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and as a foreign policy actor in the framework of international regimes, it presents novel insights into the dynamics of how a regional integration scheme such as the EU affects patterns of global governance and how dynamics in international institutions feed back into cooperation, cohesion and integration on the regional level.
