How to get there

The main railway station, Brussels Central Station, is in the city centre. All major central and eastern European destinations, can be reached within a few hours. See trainline for more information about routes, stations, timetables and fares.

Ghent → Brussels: 30 minutes
Antwerp → Brussels: 30 minutes
Paris → Brussels: 1.5 hours
Amsterdam → Brussels: 2 hours
Cologne → Brussels: 2.5 hours
Frankfurt → Brussels: 4 hours
Dusseldorf → Brussels: 4 hours

Eurostar: trains run from London to Brussels around 2 hours and from Paris to Brussels around one hour 30 minutes.

Brussels main motorway is the A10 (E40), which connects Brussels and Ostend. The N4 road in Belgium is the highway that connects Brussels to Luxembourg. The E19 European route, (from Netherlands to France, via Belgium). The E19 runs on the A1 to the Antwerp ring and from Antwerp to the Brussels ring. This route will then lead to France via the A7. VUB is located by exit 5 of the E19.

Brussels airport, is located about 20 minutes outside of the city centre, served by: Lufthansa, British Airways, KLM, Brussels Airlines, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, easyJet and Ryanair. Brussels also has another airport, Charleroi Airport located south of central Brussels (approx. 34 miles). Many low cost carriers fly into Charleroi Airport.
