Reflections on the Science of Democracy: An International Roundtable

  #ECPRHouseLectures

Friday 4 March, 16:00 – 17:30 GMT / 17:00 – 18:30 CET

Based on the Science of Democracy essay series by ECPR's blog site, The Loop

At the birth of democracy, basic research is abandoned as a professional field of academic enquiry.

On ECPR’s blog site The Loop, democratic theorist Jean-Paul Gagnon, therefore, proposed a ‘science of democracy’.

Since his first blog piece was published, back in July 2021, more than forty essays have been penned in response, by contributors around the globe.

Join us in tackling the following questions:

  • What is this burgeoning academic interest?
  • What does it portend for the future of democracy in theory and practice?

Free and open to all

Our 90-minute Roundtable discussion will digest the Loop's popular 🦋 Science of Democracy essay series and reaches for the next rung on what seems to be a new ladder of global research into the nature of democracy.
